Month: July 2002

  • Are we destined to the digital dark ages? At least somebody out there thinks so, and I’m beginning to agree with him.

  • What’s the status of the 2.5 Linux kernel? Find out.

  • Nvidia is set to release a new generation of nForce chipsets next week, according to ZDNet.

  • More apple rumors are coming from Rumortracker, MacOSRumors, MacRumors, ThinkSecret, and SpyMac. Plus there’s quite a bit of legit news at MacSlash, Mac News Network, and many others.

  • It’s hot in my room.  Time to turn of all non-essential computers.

  • Let the rumormill begin.  It appears that iMacs will be upgrading their LCDs to 17 inches after Steve Jobs’ keynote.

  • I just now figured out how to upstream both to userland and via ftp. I guess I have three versions of my log now… (ftp, userland, local).

  • The w3c releases version 6.2 of their html editor, Amaya.

  • Ebay buys PayPal. I don’t know why, but this scares me. There’s a discussion over on Slashdot about it.

  • Need a portscanner? Here’s one in php.

  • It’s like Drag Queens for Democracy: Hacktivismo releases a GPL’d steganography app for me masses.

YALD (Yet another linux distribution): TA-Linux joins the fray.

  • In morning news linkage: genetic algorithms evolved a guy’s keyboard layout, the Simputer is coming, and Nokia has a cel phone with an integrated digital camera.

  • I read an article over at LinuxJournal a few days ago that I think might help out anybody trying to connect a *nix box to a dos box.

  • 10 Gigabit Academic Ethernet: Supercomputing Online has an article about a 10gbit/sec connection between clusters. Great article, tho I spotted it as a *nuke site from about 50 yards.

  • I have added several RSS feeds from sites that I read on a regular basis.  It’s like having my own Meerkat with point and click posting.  I should have done this a long time ago.

  • I must say, this is some of the most impressive software I’ve ever used.

  • Hello and welcome to my radio weblog.  I’ve been blogging for some time now, before it was cool to have a weblog but after many people started their own.  My personal ramblings will continue to reside at my livejournal, but my technical thoughts will reside here.  I tried using phpnuke and postnuke, but they’re not quite what I’m looking for in a CMS/blog and every *nuke site looks the same.

More will follow, but now I have to play with all the software goodies that were just installed on my computer.
